Yep, I would love to see this schematic. Seems a pretty simple PCB, maybe it can be optimized a bit an fitted inside a Casio :-)

Thanks Werner!

Would you like to do that ? I mean, actually ?

I also would LOVE to deal with reverse engineering this circuit, but I have a lot of MSX things coming from Japan now, and I must unpack, test, log, sell, etc..., so I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed:

So, if you need further information, just ask
;)

EDIT: At the KB-7, Female DIN5 connector pin descriptions are:
1: +5V
2: Goes to PSG pin 14 which is IOA7 = CMTIN
3: Goes to "Engine" pin 65 which is CMTOUT
4: Goest to "Engine" pin 64 which is MOTOR, being 0 = MOTOR OFF / 1 = MOTOR ON
5: GND

Sadly it's beyond my skills and spare time; but I must reckon that the info you provided is more than enough to create at least a clone. Maybe it's worth to try it!

EDIT: Whoah!, that's a lot of stuff!. I can see three XP-800 in the first picture :-)

You must have noticed that I keep several old inkjet printers. That's because I have a childish thinking of making a CNC from salvaged printer parts. It started with that nice MSX controlled miling machine shown in Tilburg or Zandvoort.

Great work!
Have you alse tested the alternative version?, seems pretty cool to fully clone the original interface Smile
