When putting drive b physically on drive a's place, be sure to adjust the jumper on the backside of the b drive in the same position as on the a drive you remove... otherwise you're still working with just a b drive...

I used the poke command and it works! This is so cool! I will switch the drives in due time, but now I know that my MSX does function properly. I also obtained two joysticks, so I'm ready to have some serious fun.

Joysticks can be easily found on ebay! MSX joysticks have two fire buttons! Hypershot controillers are a good thing to get if you want to play hypersports or track & field games.
