In less than 48 hours, La-Mulana 2 will be available, at long last!
The remake version of La-Mulana 1 on PC was the game that ultimately put me over the edge and made me decide to buy an MSX system 3 years ago (despite never having owned one growing up, being a U.S. resident), so I owe a lot to that game -- and it helps that it really is one of the best games I've ever played! So I'm REALLY, REALLY PSYCHED for the sequel, which looks every bit as good as the first game. Check out the trailer here:

For those who don't know, La-Mulana was a game created by a guy named Takumi Naramura and his team, Nigoro, heavily inspired by the MSX games he played growing up -- especially Maze of Galious. The original freeware version of La-Mulana was even designed to mimic an actual MSX1 game, utilizing MSX screen restrictions, sprite restrictions, palette restrictions, and a Konami SCC+ soundtrack -- and while the later remake version for Windows PC, Wii, and Vita was more 32-bit in style, it still retained its MSX-inspired roots, and felt very much like an upgraded MSX game. So yeah... while La-Mulana and La-Mulana 2 may not be actual MSX games, they're still very much homages to MSX gaming, and if you've never played the first one, I HIGHLY recommend it!
Anybody else on the edge of their seat waiting for this sequel? ;)
