Of are you suppose to connect the "slow" input to the MSX clock by wire ?

The 'fast' clock could be divided by two but that is not done in the current design (the GAL version does this). You'll really need two separate clocks.

Okay...
That was a bit of a challenge, but I got it to fit eventually.
The board is the same size as a DIP40 socket, so should fit perfectly inside a Z80 socket on the MSX PCB.
Unfortunately, it had to be designed as a multi layer board (4 layers). But the costs of making a 4 layer board over a 2 layer board are not much more...
Used these guys a few years ago https://jlcpcb.com/, not expensive if you choose for the longer wait. (Board dimensions are 51.65mm x 17.53mm)

On the left, 2 crystal oscillators. I chose the normal through-hole model, so if you decide to use an external clock, you already have a hole for a wire. On the silkscreen I marked the "in" of the crystal with a circle.

On the right is the output for the Turbo LED, and the inputs connected to the diodes are also marked with circles on the silkscreen. The IORQ is already connected like it is in the schematic.
I left out the connection for a turbo switch, but you can use one of the other diode inputs for that.

All resistors and capacitors are SMD 0805 models (except for the 10uF/16V one obviously).
The transistor is the SMD MMBF170.
The diodes are the SMD BAW56 models.

So... What do you think ?
B-)

Absolutely spectacular!

Add some RAM , some glue logics and use the 20MHz Z80 to really speed things up

Combining it with a 2MB memory mapper would be cool but the problem that you will get is one of the problems that this design actually solves. Namely that if the board becomes bigger it won’t fit in all MSX’s anymore, mybe not because of height but because the CPU socket is next to the slot or the diskdrive or the side of the case…

This board already pushed the limit, so adding components will make it impossible to fit the tight space.
As sdsnatcher73 said, it will need to be bigger and than it completely misses the purpose of this design...

Do you have the geber files for this design?

Yes ofcourse...
Also added SMT paste mask files, just in case you want to take it into production ;-)
Gerber files Z80 version
And please send me some pictures, should you decide to build it...

Now I don't want money for this. It's not just my work, it's also my hobby.
But if you appreciate my work, I would like it if you gave a donation to PETA...

Note: The PCB was designed using the schematic from the first post.
Use it at own risk. I'm not responsible should your MSX get damaged.
