MSXdev22 #05 Wash Man

Another Italian job done at MSXdev22 with GameCast their second entry this year.

The game Wash Man is an MSX1 based video game with a classic arcade feel that needs skills to complete. With wit and a good feel for timing you might succeed in collecting all the dirty laundry from the tenants. You see, the building's shared washing machine broke down and they hired you to do the washing for them. They're still pissed about their broken machine, though.

My character entered a room in a narrow corridor and as an enemy appeared in front of me each time, impossible to escape it and so on until I have no more character because the both always reappearing in the same place. Then the program quits and I could see the listing.

tip for GAMECAST : use MSX-AID for debugging your BASIC
insert the cartridge and after load game

Thanks Jipe but better wait for a fix by the author before fix it oneself because this does not fix the bug where it is sometimes impossible not to die repeatedly until the game end when entering a room. The enemies positioning routine must take our position into account so as not to get us stuck in a dead end.

I noticed that there have been several updates since the bugs I indicated above. They seem fixed but on v1.9 there is other issues. For example: no autorun and the game becomes too fast on Turbo R. The v2.8 in ROM format is very unstable. Interrupts handling of dsk2rom seems buggy. I did some tests: it's a bit more stable when I don't use the compression option but not as stable as the dsk version.
