Seriously, if you ever decide to pick it up again, I'm all yours to make faithful conversions of the music to PSG/SCC.

Can you share some old design stage screenshots here?
Sure I can, MäSäXi. Although this is a +2 years ago design concept, there are no plans for now for this one. I just commented it because I took the same approach I would use for a vs beat em up such as this Saint Seiya project.

Thnx DemonSeed, I will keep it in mind. I am facing other projects right now for this year, but if I ever try to recover it I will contact you.

Now, what about going back on topic with cesco's Saint Seiya project? ;)

It's a fabulous work, you have to examine the picture closely to understand that it's not a screenshot taken from the PC Engine version Smile

My main problem is that I really don't know anything about Z80 assembly language... two days ago I was having a look at Z88DK that AFAIK is something more similar to C, but I'm not sure about its support for the MSX line of computers; from what I have understand MSX support is still preliminary.

Meanwhile, just for fun at this point, I tried to recall how to use a tracker understand how to use PSG Tracker to compose a background music for Saint Seiya... my rendition of "Pegasus Fantasy" (the opening music) is still not that good, but it's a starting point at least.

Caruso (the Karoshi music Tracker) has never been finished, right? The last preliminary version I've found on their forum is the "Manic Monday" edition published in 2005.

Cesco, which tracker do you use right now?

Cesco, which tracker do you use right now?

PSG Tracker, it's the simplest and most user friendly I have found until now

I was also considering VORTEX TRACKER II ( http://bulba.at.kz/main_e.htm )... it's a cross-tracker made for the ZX Spectrum games, but since it's targeting the same AY-3-8910 sound chip used in the MSX, maybe it's possible to easily readapt the music scores to the MSX format.

I have used PSG Tracker a little in the past and I think it's a good program, but I really recommend Vortex Tracker II! Smile

For our game, we are using the PT3 format which it generates too.
We plan to enhance the files with SCC data.

Give it a try and don't hesitate to ask for info, because it takes a little bit of getting used to at first. Wink

cesco, if you want i can help you with the 'c' compilers. For msx support there are IMHO better alternatives to z88dk.
1)SDCC
2)Hitech-C
the latter produce very optimized z80 code and bot allow in-line assembly if needed.
