Hello there.

Would it be possible to do a 2D version of Mirrors Edge for MSX 2?
I have no idea at all if I got anything right in this mockup, but the tiles are 16x16px and I used 13 colors.

I can't program anything. I can only create graphics.

I can't say I really see what this would make in 2D. A sort of faster Metal Gear with more focus on action and encountering enemies maybe.

The original game's praise is mainly its graphical engine it seems. Not sure if this is the perfect game to make a demonstration of on MSX. Don't get me wrong: I'd love to see new tactical espionage games or fast action platformers on MSX, but lacking 3D and with fast and smooth scrolling in screen 5 being quite a challenge*, this particular remake would have to get a fantastic storyline, gameplay and graphical qualities to compensate for the fundamentally different approach.

*) Seeing the level design, I'd say this is a perfect candidate for a faster-scrolling screen 5 game using differential copying though.

How odd, a couple of years ago, we had loads of programmers and musicians, but no graphics guys. And now it seems the other way around??

The game would me more fun to play if one only could play the time trial mode.
Get from point A to point B the fastest possible way.

But seriously. Haven't anyone played this game???
It's swedish, and all the swedish games are top 10 games of the year candidates.

A possible way to keep the spirit of the game could to add tons of frames in the animations of the main character
It is a key element to render a parkour
Are you sure you can do that ?

PS
This is the game how teh 2d game could look on msx?

The scroll, the frame rate and the rest tells me that the project is very ambitious....

That flash game if pretty fun to play, but it doesn't feel like the original at all.

Like I wrote before: I can't program a shit but I can draw graphics. So Yes. I could create all the needed animation if I had to.

But the only thing I wanted to know is it would be possible to create a Mirrors Edge for the MSX2.
I have no plans to create the game since I can't program it myself.

I got this idea from the swedish gaming magazine 'Level'. They have a 'premake' in every issue. A premake is basically what a new game would have looked like if it was created for an old console or home computer instead of a new console.

Those "premakes" are similar to those "demakes"?

I'm not sure if a Mirror's Edge premake is possible, since I've neve played the game. By looking the flash game, it seems possible to me, but, of course, with much less detail.

Anyway... the game concepts (of the flash game) are running and jumping, isn't it? Then, it somehow ressembles the Karoshi "Speedjet Racers":

Hey funny, I know a guy who worked for DICE, he's wellknown in the chipscene for having written LSDJ,
the famous gameboy tracker.

Yes. It's the same thing as those demakes.

The graphics shouldn't have much details. The colors and the running and jumping through the course against time should be enough to make it fun to play.
