We are free to choose any gfx theme for the levels?
something like this:

And yes I know it is MSX screen 2. :P
Huey: go and build an MSX1 game with those GFX
(sorry Imanok, I really like your project but I needed to say it
)

I need a coder....
Cool graphics, Huey! But I totally agree with Viejo: better use those graphics for an MSX1 game. It looks like an enhanced version of Zanac, doesn't it?
And AFAIK it's not Imanok's project, he's just sharing his experience with the former game editor.

It's Zanac all the way
I have no intentions to use the gfx myself. If anyone is interested on using them for a project. I'd be happy to donate them. I even have some extra work available.
@Randam:Yes, you can do what you say with the chest... the problem is that you'll die if you touch the closed chest.
About the river, the problem I was talking about is that you can't do something like Knightmare, because if you make water patterns solid, they will kill you if you touch them... well, let's imagine it's lava and it would be OK, but... if you shoot over the river, your shoots won't pass over it, because it's solid.
In general, all the limitations with sprites or patterns in the editor are the same:
Solid sprite/pattern -> Your shots hit it -> you die if you touch it
BTW, Takamichi has replied and gives his permission about using his texts for the translation
@Huey: That's why I started this topic... because I with this editor, a graphician could do his own game without the help of a coder. BTW, those gfx look great!
@viejo & pitpan: Don't worry, I would be happy if they make an MSX1 game too!
And this is not MY project... it's just an idea for a community project.

Ok. Once I get my hands on an understandable version of the editor I will give it a go.
Is know what format the tiles are? Plain screen5 data?
@Imanok: Yeah you're right about the closed chest. It is a shame if there is no way around the part that you can't shoot over certain objects that kill you if you touch it. Woiuld have been great if there was that one extra state in the games...
But the games you can create with it are fun in and of itself.
Great news by the way about Takamichi giving his permission. Then we can get going with the translation of the program... If you'd like could you mail it to msx DOT translations AT gmail DOT com?
@Huey, the graphics you made are great. And there is no one stopping you to make a shooter with MSX1 feel to it in Yoshida Kozern.

Well said!
Yes, its sr5 data... but the editor itself has his own gfx designer, so it's no possible to load external data (although I managed to do it using an HEX editor... I'll have to remember how).

Yes, it's all about dealing with the limitations.

I'll take a look and I'll send it to you.
BTW, I think the editor uses the Kanji Rom... do you have it in mind??

This is a very good option too.

If it is in any way possible we'll change the game from using Kanji ROM to display regular letters. Otherwise MSXes without Kanji ROM won't be able to see the English texts...
