Suggestion/request for the MRC Forum

Hello,

I'm so fond of this forum so no hard feelings please. I just would like to know if it could be converted to say phpbb3 or some sort of forum which allows:

- watch thread (email sent any time anyone writes a post)
- topic subscription (when replying to a post)

It's just that I find it hard to follow some threads and the only options I have are either bookmarking them or watching My statistics. In any case, I have to keep checking them every now and then because I have no way of guessing whether a topic has been updated with new posts.

i use to browse this forum from my nokia phone and it works wonders , then i am for keeping it simple otherwise maybe it wont work anymore on it .

btw , i see more an apps (ovi/apple/android) if one wants a different experience on msx.org , it would more in the air since we re in 2010.

I too have a request:

a better search-engine or advanced searching and paging...

it seems like I dont get all the results for my search just the one page....

derebo: I hope stuff like that will be taken care of in the new MRC version. I also have a hard time tracking what's going on. I usually have to click all items in the top 10 and check all if they changed or not... quite tedious.

For complex searchs you can use Google as follows:

term1 term2 termN site:www.msx.org

Works really fine!

Another feature I hope will be implemented: put link to favorite website(s?) in your user profile.

Although I see it's possible to (ab)use the e-mail field for this purpose...

It's just that I find it hard to follow some threads and the only options I have are either bookmarking them or watching My statistics.I vaguely remember myself boycotting MRC, quite some years ago (read: in the previous century), with this exact argument, and an additional "there is already a platform on the internet for discussions: Usenet. And it has all the features that online forums (like MRC) lack!"
