"Goonies'r good enough" with keyboard only

I'm using a ROM dump: This is an Altera DE1, and it doesn't have a cartidge slot or joystick port, even if it behaves as a real MSX2+ (NOT an emulator, no input delays due to lame OS, same screen refresh rates, etc).
I know what you're thinking: "You cheap pirate!!", but if you look at the spanish thread about the game, you'll see I tried to buy the game in ROM format for my "special" MSX. After months waiting for it to become available as a downloadable ROM, I finally found a dump (and you have said that you'll never release a ROM version so people has to play it on a real machine, but you've obviated the FPGA MSX that are the future anyway) and I'm trying it.

@xnen: no, I can't solder. I'd buy a pre-made joystick+cartidge slot add-dom board solution for the Altera DE1 if souch a thing existed.

So this game DOES support keyboard and I should be able to start a new game with space key if I had a legit/hacked copy??

The game DOES work on the DE1: it looks great and sounds perfectly well. I can enter passwords, wach demo mode, etc.
In fact, your game uses FPGA sound chips, too.

Maybe the Altera DE1 doesn't meet all the MSX specs, but it's new hardware and it works great for rom and DSK. Mine even features 4MB RAM and 1GB HD, VGA output and SCC sound built-in. It even has MSX2+ VDP and a fast Z80 implemented in FPGA, not emulated.

The only problem with this game is that I can't PUSH FIRE, because I don't have a joystick. So, if the game doesn't support keyboard input (wich is a decision I respect, of course!), please tell me so I can forget about playing it. That's all I want to know
But please, don't make a fool of me and tell me that it doesn't work because it's a dumped ROM, because I suspect it's not the actual problem.

That means: the game is protected. It detects someway the original cartridge and won't let you pass from the main screen just to tease you.

If you really want this game by a cheap MSX/MSX2 and the original cart. Simple as that.
