Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to crank up the volume now. Frysian MSX veteran Meits of Dutch development group Near Dark has sent us a present. It's an improved version of DISK, a disk containing some interesting 'MB-Stereo' tunes. This means that the music uses both MSX-Music and MSX-Audio simultaneously to create an extra rich effect, so be sure to have both of those chips plugged in. The meaning of the abbreviation DISK, as is the name of this disk, is De Idiootste Spellen Koffers, which roughly translates from Dutch as "The Most Idiotic Game Arrangements/Suitcases". It's recommended to run this demo on a real MSX machine.
This update of DISK contains the following:
- A new MoonBlaster driver
- 50 and 60 Hertz music equalization
- MSX-DOS2 compatibility
In the first version of DISK every music file had a 50 and 60 Hertz version. Thanks to the new MoonBlaster driver, this isn't necessary anymore. Other changes are:
When booting from disk:
- In the replayer you can press [SELECT] to toggle VDP frequency
When booting from mass storage device:
- type "DISK" plus [RETURN] to load DISK
- In the replayer you can press [SELECT] to toggle VDP frequency
- After pressing a key when the credits part is done, you will return to MSX-DOS
