Hello.

I just found my old msx with tapedeck. I cant remember how to start a game.

Can anybody help me?

Do I start the tape first, on record or play? Wich codes do I need. at the moment I only have a tape with pacmania. On the tape itself are no codes.

If I remember correctly (I hated the cassettetapedeck!, almost no game I bought worked with me):

Press Play and Pause on the casssetedeck.

Type in CLOAD

<ENTER>

Now it searches the whoel cassette for files and shows the filmename under eachother

once you now which game you wish to start, rewind, start the casssetedeck adn type in:

CLOAD "filename",r

This should look on the cassette for the file and start it....

I can only add one thing to this: connect the right cassette-deck the right way and the tape motor will start automatically. Otherwise you'll have to start the tape manually. Good luck!

and if CLOAD doesn't work, try RUN"CAS:" or BLOAD "CAS:",R

The BLOAD command loads binary files, something CLOAD and RUN cannot do.

CLOAD "filename",r

CLOAD ,r doesn't exist. Software houses always used LOAD"cas:",r or RUN"cas:" to automatically execute a basic program after it was loaded. Most of the time these were very small programs to load and execute binary programs and some set up a run-command in the keyboard buffer that would automatically kick in after the CLOAD has finished.

No! Cassettes rule! load"cas:",r -> go to school/drink a cup of tea or lemonade(hey, I was young back then)/play outside to come back hours later to find your MSX being stuck on some kind of silly error
