The official MSX2+ uses a main rom, a sub rom and a option rom. The option rom only contains the title (startup) screen.
MSX2 does not have the option rom, only a main rom and a sub rom.

Option rom must be in the same slot as the sub rom, and uses addressspace 04000H-07FFFH
If you want the title screen, you need the option rom.
But as you do not have the F4 register, you can start without the titlescreen.

Please mail me (my mailadres is in the contact information) your e-mail adres and I will send you the rom files.

On 2 page mr. Jipe well described

MSX I/O ports overview
This register is basically a simple memory cell which is preserved after a reset. It is used on the MSX2+ to differentiate between a hard boot (power on) and a soft boot (reset button) by writing a value to it during the boot routine, and check for that value everytime the computer starts. On the turboR, it also indicates whether the Z80 or the R800 has to boot.
Port range Description
#F4 System flags, preserved after reset
bit 5: CPU boot mode (1=R800)
bit 7: Boot method (1=soft boot, doesn’t show start logo)

Hi all Smile
I want replace the standard titlescreen "MSX" to "KUVT2+". I have prepared a file. How to change titlescreen in KANJI.ROM?

KANJI.ROM
TITLESCREEN.BMP

I managed to squeeze logo in to MSX2+ SUB-ROM... kind of... Free space was so tight that proper animation and "M" & "S" needed to go... Tongue See here. At least I didn' t have to modify the system for extra KANJI-ROM... I also made an psychological trick, so you probably don't even notice that F4-port is actually missing. (See description of the video)
