Thanks. What is exactly in these slots? Did you use a cartridge to dump it? Which?
I used a Sony HBD-50 disk drive. No extra hardware so slot 0 is BASIC/BIOS, slot 1 RAM and slot 2 FDD interface.
I am confident that is the same ROM as Yeno DPC-64: mine needs repair, but the ROM's marking are identical except the date code.
If I can repair my DPC-64 I will try to confirm this.
@Patrick can you also run the other steps of the reverse engineering process? They are documented in the readme file in the tools zip file of the original post in this forum thread.
Added many photos of internals and screenshots of execution results for all the tools. Only missing part is keyboard matrix which requires pressing combinations of keys and taking pictures at the same time which is not possible by myself :)
From your rom dumps and the existing YIS-805/128R2 machine config I created a machine config and systemroms. I bundled them here.
I guess you quoted the wrong post... xesco had VG 8020/40 ROMs. I assume you used the Yamaha YIS-805/256 dumps. But I don't think it's wise to base the machine on the Russian YIS-805/128. It might be quite different, despite the name.
Well I don’t think those machines are very different, most likely just ROM difference, markings on the case and the keyboard.
We could confirm this with some photos of both models (there appear to be no images of the mainboard of the Japanese model. However on the Russian model you can see this machine has the connector on the mainboard for the video expansion that only the Japanese model actually has exposed on the back.

Also, are you sure that RAM isn't in slot 2? The motherboard picture on MSX.org labels the cartridge slot EX1 and the expansion port EX3.
