From Wikipedia: "UTF-8 was first officially presented at the USENIX conference in San Diego, from January 25 to 29, 1993."

Not sure if these Kanji characters were part of a different standard that was used as input for UTF-8.

This program didn't show any pictures on HB-F1XDJ of openMSX. just normal KANJI characters.

Please be warned that the experience might be not what you expect if you press CTRL+STOP :) I don't know if this feature is well known among Japanese users (ghost_jp?)

Probably I saw "workarea address &hFAFD" on "MSX FAN" http://www.generation-msx.nl/company/tokuma-shoten-intermedi... or "MSX Magazine" http://www.generation-msx.nl/company/ascii/9/publication/ .
And "MSX technical guide book" http://www.ascat.jp/ http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/ascat/msx-technical-gu... .
But they didn't say "Useful for SCREEN3".

Interesting... It seems that not all MSX computers handle KANJI quite a same way. I didn't know that. I thought the difference was only if there is JIS1/JIS2 ROM installed or not.

Perhaps it is not the matter of KANJI handling routine.

Interesting, all glyphs are drawn differently between FSA1ST and F1XDJ, the FSA1ST are a bit bigger, even if fitting into the same area.
