If the game works when uploaded with C2MAN utility, then the problem is with the Romloader 1.99.
It more or less makes Sofarun useless for SCC with Carnivore. Sofarun starts romload and then romload throws, the can't find the SCC error. It return in DOS and thats it.

So you have associated .rom with Romload instead of SofaROM?
SofaROM works well with Carnivore 2, at least on my machine here.
Be sure that you have not enabled “external SCC” when launching an scc game with SofaROM (external here means that the SCC chip is in another slot than the game itself, so if the game is in occupying the carnivore 2 SCC slot, an external SCC slot can’t be found)
@Louthrax. No, I have not associated .ROM with anything, unless associating automatically happens the first time you use romload. What I did was: romload knight.rom. Error SCC not found. Then sofarun, SCC not found. Then I also looked at the settings and noticed that external SCC was off. I turned that on, still SCC not found.
Thats when I posted the first report. Does romload store settings somewhere? I can always delete those settings. Might very well be a problem in my machine if it works with your system.
Has anyone tried the PlaySoniq cartridge with Carnivore 2? Could produce some interesting sound FX? might be fun playing Sega Master system games on my MSX2? Has anyone tried it?
A question about configuring Carnivore2. About 99% of the time, I will use CV2 in the standard mode (IDE/MEM/SCC/FMPAC). Is it possible to automatically start CV2 in that mode without second MSX reset? If you want to return to the standard menu from the default mode, pressing select/ins/del etc, can be considered as an option.
By default the cartridge starts in the full mode (IDE+RAM+SCC+FMPAC). So no need for the reboot. When it starts, it's ready for operation in Basic, MSX-DOS, as a RAM expansion. The FMPAC can be used straight away.
Thanks! I found some other documentation that describes the ability to mark an entry for autostart which introduces only a 3 second delay. I hope it doesn't require a reflash and needs a reboot. When my machine is back, I'll give it a try.
I have a question, how can I make a separate FMPAC startup RCP like SCCPLUS to use FMPAC for floppy disk startup programs?

Use c2man utility. Select 2 to create a new configuration entry. Enter the name. Answer NO to all questions except for FMPAC. Done. Restart and select this entry.
