I like how the game asks in the beginning 'are you ok?' ..... thanks for asking Smile .. I'll wait with playing for a bit until things have changed. btw: if there are any major version please e-mail a notification to I can add them to the new openMSX ROMDb interface ( https://romdb.vampier.net/ )

The walkthrough site has been updated quite considerably, as it now has hotlinked sections, as well as some new info and translations that weren't present before. Check it out!

It still needs some proofreading, as there have been a LOT of little changes made, including a bunch that were made before the hotlinked sections got added (using older text, meaning I had to go in and change some things again afterward), so there may be more little tweaks to this in the coming days/weeks. But for now, this should be considered pretty complete and accurate, and I'd like to give a big thank-you to my friend Brandi for not only making the site to begin with, but also updating it with this cool modularized design!

And again, this map is VERY complete, and can even theoretically be used in lieu of a walkthrough altogether if need be (due to the huge amount of info he included on it).

Hey guys. I'm posting on Hubz's behalf, since he's having problems registering here.
He wants to know if somebody knows how to make the game use the built-in font without having to manually run commands ahead of time.

I think it should be quite obvious: Make the manually written commands part of the program.
What exactly is the problem? He does not know how to turn POKE/PEEK in to ML? He does not know how to "insert" ML to the beginning of program? He can't locate the font in ROM? He doesn't know the font data structure? Something else?

Seems that this font issue dropped back to me...

Here is now version with custom fonts:

As requested I now also fixed so that the "CONTINUE"-option is selected by default. I also moved the 2nd fire button to GRPH in order to use SHIFT to write big letters.

Thanks NYYRIKKI. Smile I'll give this a try to see that everything is working properly and the GRPH key change is a sensible one. Actually, if we're going to change keys here, would it be possible to change the jumping and action keys to Z and X keys respectively? The Z and X keys are commonly used by many Japanese-developed games. Those keys are also nicer to use than the wider SHIFT and SPACE BAR keys.

I know that X and Z are rare in names, but are you sure that X and Z are not used in passwords?

If you ask me, I would say that SPACE+GRPH is much more common combination than Z+X... but maybe we play different games Smile

I wasn't talking about MSX games specifically, but Japanese-developed games in general. If you google "Z and X keys in Japanese games", you'll see that I'm not the only one who has noticed this trend.

Anyway, apparently it's not possible to change the keys to work in one way for the player name/password screens, and in another way during actual gameplay, so never mind. I just don't personally see using CAPS LOCK to type uppercase letters as that much of problem, to warrant changing the way the whole game is played. In any case, I'll play the game for a while with this new key setup and see how it works in action. The thing about the GRPH key is that depending on one's MSX model, it can either be right next to the SPACE BAR or not, which can affect its usability in some way:

Yeah, the GRPH key won't do. It makes the game impossible to beat, thanks to not being able to jump full height any more. Also, I noticed the cursor defaulting to CONTINUE even in the title screen, which isn't good. All in all, awesome that the game now uses the thick font, but too bad that the other changes ruin the game.
