@ren I just listened to the area 4 speech in Aleste 2 and I think she's saying "よろしくじゃないよ" (yoroshiku janai yo), which is something in the spirit of "good riddance!" (yoroshiku is "nice to meet you", yoroshiku janai is "it was not nice to meet you").

Nice! Smile
Considering Runemaster II, I guess it's general knowledge what is said.
I guess it's "I did it!" or "I won!" (やったな) during the game, and Azasort says something like "Fool, you will die!" and when he does his "magic" attack, simply "Die!".
But correct me if I'm wrong.

And what about konami's pennant race 2. "play ball!, strike, out". Not the best examples op sampling, but I believe the only scc game with speech. And wasn't there speech in konami's mahjong 2 aswell?

And the voices of the intro of Seed of Dragon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhBL7UHpAjA

Translated in this post: https://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/software-and-gaming/seed-...

The ending (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfiK2MJnU4s) has only english samples.

Didn't Playball III have FM speech? Quite pleasant sounding compared to some horrible PSG samples in games, but really muffled. Probably synthesized.
Seed of Dragon (Turbo R) has samples, PCM I guess.

WoW... Those is Playball III are really really bad. I guess their synthesized FM indeed. The samples in Playball 1 were much better, thanks to the onboard DAC.

かげさんじょう (Kage-san jyo)
Something with "mister Kage" (kage means "shadow" by the way)

Could be "kage sanjou," too. "Sanjou" is a word that can mean "mountain castle," so it could be "Mountain Castle Kage" (and "kage" means "shadow").

Also, I think the one weapon in Aleste II is probably meant to be "mag destroyer" as opposed to "mug destroyer." The two are written identically in katakana, but "mag" makes more sense as a weapon name.

Warau Salesman contains also samples, mainly FX but sometimes words like "moshi moshi". I don't know if there is more speech in the game though...

BTW now I realize that Warau Salesman is an anime production! :D Compile did a very good job with this adaption and including samples in their last productions.

Warau Salesman started off as a manga series, eventually getting two anime series in 1989-1992 and 2017. Compile made three games based on the first anime series: The first one for the MSX2, PC98 and Mega-CD, and the second and third ones only for the PC98.

I know it's off topic, but can someone who's on the hardcoregaming101 forums ask them why the author of that article on "Oh Shit!" thinks that left box shot is from a Japanese version?

I just found this Japanese article that has a pretty extensive list of games that feature speech samples.
