Can't believe it sold for over 500 euros!
Prices are crazy for the GT these days, even apparently broken ones... Shocked!

they aren't getting any more common.... but yeah, that is a lot.

That’s quite ridiculous indeed. I am going to call it a fluke, because prices truly have gone crazy.

I found 4096k to be more problematic than handy....

Can you elaborate with some examples? Because those compatibility rumours about 4MB are more myth than reality in my book.

Well, I should've said "I found 4096k to be more problematic than handy compared to 512 or 1024k". It was of course still very useful on a 128k machine.

I remember some stuff not starting though... most of the time it could be easily fixed (e.g. changing an LDR file) but that still meant more hassle than not having to do anything at all. Wink
Of course if a program didn't need that amount simply not using it was the other option (it was a cartridge); I think designer plus refused to start with it.

If just changing the LDR file was enough (we’re talking about cracks then I suppose?) then I have doubts whether it has anything to do with the memory being 4 MB… The only possible real reason that something wouldn’t work on 4 MB as opposed to less is due to a byte overflow error in a memory amount detection routine, and that isn’t something done in Basic.

Thanks for mentioning Designer Plus, I’ll give that a go then to confirm if that is maybe to do with the memory amount.

Cracked versions indeed... IIRC it was some code making wrong assumptions.
