Howdy guys, I'm having a hard time finding any MSX2 games I'm particularly interested in, and a lot of the well known titles that folks recommend are very pricey. Does anyone have any recommended games that wont break the bank? Thanks Smile

Ys, Ys II, Ys III, Dragon Slayer 6, Xak, Xak II and Fray shouldn't break the bank last I checked, € 40 orso for a boxed copy. All popular RPGs.

Of the Konamis, Usas and Vampire Killer shouldn't be too expensive I think, also around € 40, though maybe not boxed. Maybe Quarth too?

Forget about Metal Gear, Space Manbow, SD Snatcher, Mr. Ghost and Aleste Smile.

Yeahhh, the Metal Gear titles prices are nuts lol. Are there any good platformers on MSX2?

Usas, Vampire Killer, Contra, Psycho World, Fire Hawk and Mr. Ghost come to mind. Not all affordable to buy original, but recommended to play nevertheless. Also a bunch of nice scene games released in the 90s and of course theres also several MSX1 platform games.

Okay cool! Thanks for the info Smile I've always been more interested in MSX1 software, but everyone recommends I get at least an MSX2 but I'm very much on the fence since I don't know too many of the games, and the MSX2 has quite a different palette from the TMS9918 or 28 of the MSX1, which sets off my OCD a bit lol.

On the other hand you get crystal clear RGB image quality Smile.

The majority of games is for MSX1, but there's a significant amount for MSX2 too. I myself grew up with MSX2 so I'm partial to that, I really like its graphics capabilities more, and I played MSX1 games with the colours they had on MSX2. But nothing's stopping you from getting an MSX1 first and an MSX2 later, of course!

That's true, RGB is the best Smile. I'm thinking of getting an MSX1 then, since it couldn't hurt to just buy an MSX2 later when I warm up to the library a little more. I've also seen that MSX1's sell for a bit cheaper than MSX2's so I got that going for me as well lol.

I totally agree, but it's not an MSX2 game.
