Is there a demand for Yamaha CA-01 clone?

I think every user of CX5M who doesn't have an adapter wants one... (just a guess but considering availability and prices on this adapter i bet i'm not wrong - having only one cartridge slot is unconvenient, everybody would like to have second one available)

I agree although I don't know how many people have a CX5M. But everyone should want one, it is really one of the best built MSX's out there, and with it's 32kB RAM and 32kB ROM all in slot 0 it has 3 primary slots available (which makes it quite unique, only other machine besides the CX5 'clones' I know is the CX11). Also it's audio circuitry is close to perfect, there is no crosstalk from the data lines that it is present in all my other machines (even the later Yamaha's).

I do have an original CA-01 so if you want measurements let me know.

Yes, a few good quality photos from the connector sides and top view with the measurements would be welcome. Thanks.

The Sony HB-F500P/F has this as well (in fact it has even 64KB RAM, as a bonus even split over two sub slots of slot 0 Tongue )

Is it known/clear which cartridges use any of the 10 extra signals of the 60 pin expansion bus of the Yamaha? I guess the RGB unit at least...

I did not know the F500 came as a P /EU variant. I thought the HB-F700 was the EU release of the Japanese HB-F500. But it is a nice looking machine with actual 3 cartridge slots. Very cool! It does seem quite rare.

The CA-01 is for the expansion bus (not the side slot) on the CX5 series, which is just 50 pins. Why they designed it like they have is still a mystery to me, similarly for Toshiba HX-10 or alike. Were they planning to release actual devices (other than converters to standard slot)?

I am not sure if we already know which cartridges for the side slot use (some of) the extra pins. The RGB unit has to use some. It also raises the question if all machines with a side slot have all pins connected, so do the MSX1 machines with the MSX1 VDP really have RGB output on those pins...
