Hello,
We found my old MSX (from 1985) and I want to use it again. The only thing I bought was the video cable RGB -> Scart. But I dont get a signal, where should start debug. Maybe it my TV, maybe its the MSX. CAPSLOCK indicator works.
On the first sighed the mainboard looks okay. What can i do or where can i start ?

I'd start with checking if the cable corresponds to your model.

Edit: Is that an 8020/40?

My VG 8020 doesn't have RGB out... can you take a picture of your video output connector?

The vg 8020 i had, have a composit signal, no rgb, the pinout of the din plug is in the manual. You can make a din to scart you're self i' place the pin out here, when i get home.

The regular RGB-to-SCART is wrong cable of course. I had almost a stroke back in 2013 when carelessly tried to connect Eizo 8020 monitor to VG 8020 with this cable - it looked like i just screwed up monitor. But fortunately it was only fuse in 8020. Afte that i googled and found out that pinout is really different. Btw, for taking out CVBS composite from 8020's DIN-8 it is enough to use much more available and cheeper DIN-5 (MIDI) connector, since the GND and videosignal is at lower pins, so i have built DIN-5 to RCA connector cable once - it worked fine

when measuring the scart cable, the pins do not match, for example pin 20 is not pin 20 on the other side of the scart cable. It is pin 19 on the otherside.
