I use Japanese Sony MSX2 with internal FDD drive and I have Carnivore2 cartridge with Sofarun installed. The CF card gets assigned to letter A: and the internal FDD gets assigned to drive B: while it is always drive A: without the cartridge. When I try to write a .dsk file to a floppy disk to drive B:, I always get this error message "*** Not a floppy disk drive". When I use any other standalone utility, it doesn't work either and it always displays an error "Not a DOS disk reading drive". I can hear the disk is accessed every time I try but it always refuses to work. When I try to copy some file in a browser then it DOES work however so I can see there is some functionality but it simply refuses to write full .dsk files. I can see there are 57 free memory slots or something. I didn't find any info on that surprisingly. Can anyone help here?? Many thanks in advance

Nope, it throws up with "Not a DOS disk reading drive" just as well

What tool do you use to write? You could try PUTDISK.COM Works a treat with MFRSCC+SD.

OK, those error messages were probably a little misleading as I noticed some floppy disks threw up error messages on formatting while they worked fine before, so that just "happens" sometimes. When I tried to write another formatted floppy using copy720 I NOTICED some activity (progress bar displayed just 2 o's "oo") but after that it threw up another error "Not a DOS disk reading drive". I tried putdisk and fdload as well, same result. It tries to write something for a while but after that it throws up an error. There is no way 5 different floppies cannot be written while they can be fully formatted. I completely ran out of ideas (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Why would writing to a disk cause a "Not a DOS disk reading drive" error? That makes no sense.

No clue, looks like those error messages are just as misleading anyway. I just gave up and brought up my old PC again and just wrote .dsk files on the same diskettes (even the ones showing errors on formatting) the old way. At least it works. Maybe my drive in my MSX is somewhat broken but at least it reads all floppies without issues as I beat many games on it. Maybe the writing process is screwed up or something else, I have no idea. Even if something is wrong mechanically then I have no idea how to even approach this anyway

Are you using HD disks? They "work" on MSX, but they are different and can generate issues.

DSK-PRO will definitely work. But I also have this issue and am under the impression that it worked fine before. Maybe related to recent Nextor updates, I will do some testing...

How am I supposed to use DSKPRO with Carnivore2 and what version exactly?? Once I tried several versions I failed to do anything. Also yes I use 2HD disks as this is pretty much all I have but they are still 100% fine and compatible when written on PC in 720KB/360KB mode. Anyway if this is what happens on MSX computers and the incompatibility seems to be so bad then I will probably stick to writing floppies on my old PC anyway as I wasted my last entire evening on this crap
