I'm currently restoring the lovely HB-75P and got more or less all the parts I'm going to need, except for the spring that holds the cardridge port lid in place. The spring has part number 4-604-303-00. Now, I can obviously not order the original spring, but since I see lot's of pictures of this machines with a broken lid, I'm hoping that someone might have replaced it before and have an idea on what I should look for.

If you can't find a broken spare HB-75 than can act as a donor, you can try to find a torsion spring in eBay. Watch out the dimensions!

Torsion spring was obviously the search term I should be looking for, thanks! I have no idea about the exact dimensions, but they are cheap, so I can probably by a few different ones.

Laupert: If you find a working one, please share the dimensions. I have a HB-75P too with a missing spring Cool

Will do! It's really hard to see what type of spring is needed and I don't want to disassemble the machine at that level until I have the other parts I need, so I'll probably just order some assorted sizes and try out.

The spring on mine is still intact - it's about 1cm wide and 3mm in diameter. The ends stick out about 6-7mm on each side.

I think the problem with these lids is that the spring goes into a thin plastic peg on the lid itself, and that plastic peg is prone to snapping. On mine it's bent by the spring's tension and i wouldn't be surprised if it snaps off at some point.
