Hi all,

I am trying to 'revive' my Philips VG8235, but I only get text in the middle of the screen and upside down and mirrored. Does anyone have advice on what's wrong and how to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

C.

I recently got my own 8235 from deep storage, so I really feel for you. Mine was working fine, but I had to push hard on the scart connector to get it to display anything. I have resoldered the connector on the main board to fix this.

How did you connect yours? Did you use the monitor output or the scart output? Did you hook it up to your old crt screen (which can be the source of the problem as well) or to a modern tv? Did you use any scart to hdmi conversion?

Lift your monitor up about 30cm, rotate it 180° to clockwise or counterclockwise and land it back to table.

That would still leave it mirrored. Big smile

My guess is that the problem is with the monitor, not the computer. But I'm no hardware guy...

A photo would be useful…

But yeah from this description it must be the electron beams of the monitor that are all messed up (their electromagnetic control), no way the VDP can produce a mirrored and flipped and scaled image even in a defective state.

Maybe there is a V9978 in there Smile
