External mapper use on the 1chipMSX ?

Hi all,

I'm trying to get an external memory mapper on the 1chipMSX in use as the mapper, that is: the mapper normally in use with Basic/DOS etc. It seems the 1chipMSX always uses the internal mapper, not sure whether it always does this or just prefers the biggest size mapper (can't test that since I don't have an external mapper >=1 MB at the moment).

I know this behaviour from MSX-DOS2, but the thing is this also happens if you boot the 1chip in DOS1 (Disk Basic 1.0, not just the MSX-DOS files)... Sad

You can do some manual tests / block switching in page 2, and Digital KC's MAPTEST.COM (v4) allows you to test all mappers in the system, but that's rather limited selection of software. Other programs run in the internal mapper = no use for testing purposes. Changing from slot 1 <-> 2 makes no difference.

Any ideas on how to get around this? Question

In case you're wondering why this is a problem anyway: hardware builders have different needs than normal users... WinkLOL!
