MSXdev'11 - Closed

Traditionally, we post our 'closed' post to list all entries once again. Because this is the new MRC2k11, and because we like things being uniform, we've created spotlight images for entries that were released prior to our new website - did you click the picture yet? So, there it is, a collection of new MSX1 games on ROM images, and sometimes on DSK images too. Puzzles, platform games, shooters, a board game, it's all there. Let's run through them:

  1. Robots
  2. Kill Mice
  3. Zone TNT
  4. ExChess
  5. JumpinG
  6. Mecha 8
  7. M-Tanks
  8. Zombie Incident
  9. Alter Ego

With four entries, the platform genre is the most popular one this year. So, do you have a favourite already - if yes, which? Chances are that you may have had one, but that this final day (which saw the release of three entries) messed up your ranking again. It's now up to the jury to play these games thoroughly and decide who deserves MSXdev'11 gold, which may not be an easy task as the competition among the top contenders is quite strong.

Happy gaming!

Jumping (The Game Tutorial) is a very nice idea because mirrored the spirit of involve and develop better software.

I suggest for MSXdev contest an imposition of “the game tutorial” releasing the source code and programming techniques for all next games.

Cheers. Smile

Definitely yet another great edition of MSXdev! 9 brand new MSX1 games, well 10 if you count PWND 2) and the overall quality just keeps getting better and better.

Indeed! Not a bad edition at all: there are new games and most of them are really playable. And it is also cool that two projects have already published the source code.

Now we have to wait for the final veredict, although most of us already have an opinion regarding this.

Thanks to all the developers that have published their games for free and thanks to the MSXDEV TEAM for their time and efforts.

Hehe, you can be proud of your legacy, pitpan! ^_^

Also great to see novice developers improve their skills (Gamecast) and new developers come out of 'nowhere' (Nenefranz). A bright future lies ahead of us! Smile

Additional info : Trail 2 by Kotai will be released in the near future as extra game (outside any contest) on the MSXdev' website. He could not submit this game before the deadline due to problems with music routines in the last line.

Another good news ! Wink

lessee, my personal top 3 would be:
1) Alter Ego
2) Zombies
3) M-Tanks

Too bad HSA and Core Crisis didn't make it.

I must say I do like very much this Robots game!!!! Very simple, but very addictive!! Big smile Good game for children too! Smile

My only very small complain would be that it would be nice if player could actually see the edges of the playing area, but it actually makes game bit more exciting when you can´t see the edge exactly (at least on emulator).

I played this on my Amiga decades ago, it was a very simple PD game and it was called "Daleks" and robots were of course shaped like daleks and it had mouse control, of course. Smile (clicking small cursors to show where to go and it had diagonal movement too)
