The first MSXdev22 game entry has been registered. ToriHino from Robosoft created an MSX1 platform arcade game with enough levels to keep you occupied for a long time.

If you're into King's Valley, you will like this one. The goal is simple - collect all the rings on the screen and exit through the gate. Meanwhile avoiding those zombies and that nasty electric lightning. One strike and you're out, starting all over again. If you're trapped, switch with your shadow to confuse the zombies. Can you make it to level 2?

You will find the complete story at the MSXdev original web site. If you are enjoying MSXdev, please consider donating to the contest.

Cool! It's a fun one! The switching mechanics works pretty well in this game, as there's quite some strategy on where to leave one of your characters, so that it's on a relatively safe spot, so, you can safely swap if the one you are controlling is in trouble.

Is this a port of the C64 game by the same name? At least the sprites look similar.

Nice conversion! Although not without its issues it seems:

  • there are some platforms where robots can get stuck, i.e. they never come down the ladder. This might prevent you from obtaining a ring;
  • there are some stages where you have to maneuver between 2 lightnings, this seems unforgivably hard. Judging from C64 video footage I'm under the impression the original is more forgiving/doable (thanks to the larger horizontal resolution?)

Regarding entries; I think it would be good to:

  • make clear whether the game is an original, remake, a (source) port, or otherwise (heavily) inspired on an existing game;
  • give clear & proper attribution to the original creator(s) where applicable.

I know there has been some discussion before regarding Randoom it was I believe. Not sure if this game needs an update in this regard? (There's the copyright notice, and only mention of Dr. Wuro Industries (Christian Gleinser) after waiting 20s at the title screen.)

Cheers!

(So anyway, for reference, the original C64 version can be found @ https://shadow.drwuro.com/)
