European MSX aficionados sure like the screen 5 mode that the MSX2 has to offer. We have another one of those for you. From the Italian developer GameCast, the MSXdev compo presents Mad House. A platformer featuring MSX-Music tunes.

What to do when greedy fat cat museum owners steal your ancestorial treasures to put on display? Well, you take it back, simple. Hiring the best thief in town and get him to rob the very same mansion those goods are at. Case closed, move on.
So, we find it kind of funny and we find it kind of sad, but the games in which we're dying are the best we've ever had. Also, we find it hard to tell you, we find it hard to take, but with people stealing treasures, it's a very very Mad House!

You can submit your own work here. Donating to the contest can be done here.

Couldn't avoid laughing when I heard the Shinchan anime music as the background song during the levels hahaha

Right! I thought to recognize it, but couldn't quite place it. LOL! Thanks!

Hm... some of that music sounds *awfully* familiar to me... to the extent that I think I might actually have been the one who created them (mostly the level clear, death and game over ones)

Well, Jorito, what to say. The "author" often acts this way, collecting things from web and putting them together pretending that it is all his own work, without crediting anyone...
Sooner ol later we will discover where he takes the basic listings and/or the asm routines and finally unmask him.
Trust me, I know what I'm saying: time ago I've helped him (before realizing what a waste of time it was) and he gave me "his" listing and sources. He wasn't able even to understand "his own" code and the meaning of the variables... and both listing and sources had remarks and comments in english and spanish

Mad House is a project that dates all the way back to around 2013 (maybe earlier), I witnessed the first betas of this game with a classic but fun idea. Certainly some of the graphic and sound details are not entirely original, but since the first editions of the msx Dev, several titles in the contest, brought concept games, graphics and sound from other games or other sources.
To this, the verdict of validity for the game's participation, lies solely with the contest jury.
However, we have historically welcomed each initiative, thanks to which, the msx dev contest has remained alive and brought magic, sound and colour to our beloved msx systems to this day. ❤️

No one asked to disqualify him. Simply he has to understand that he MUST credit people if he uses code/music/sfx/gfx created by someone else
