On the website of MSX Association an MSX-BASIC programming competition has been announced. The objective of the contest is to create a BASIC listing that is no longer than 5 screens at WIDTH 40 when listed. Games, demo's, music and utilities are all allowed, and so are international entries. The winner of this programming contest will be announced in ASCII's upcoming MSX Magazine 3. There is little time to complete the entries, however as the deadline of this contest is set on November 1st.

As a reminder we'd also like to let you know that Bernard Lamers, one of the editors of MSX Magazine 3 could use some help in gathering information on MSX in Russia and MSX in Arabic countries. If you have any information on this, please have a look at this newspost.

The programming contest has also lead to an interesting nomination for the MSX in the Media challenge, as none other than Slashdot Japan wrote an article it, which has been added to the list of nominees.

Did you get or spot MSX in the media? Send the evidence to msxmedia@msx.org and we will add it to the list of nominees!

Well, I want to make a piece of code for that contest Smile, but I have some doubts:

1.- The lenght of the listing is very short, so I'll define the alphabet doing a little trick with the existing set... this could be a trouble when the game runs in a japanese MSX? (you know, with all that kanji stuff?). Well, I can resume the question... the "A" character has de same ASCII code in every MSX computer region?

2.-When my entry is done, where do I send it?. Any email adress?. What are the required personal data I must include (first name, last name, adress, etc...)?.

3.- Can I release my entry before the contest closes?

4.- What about the prizes?. (This point is the less important for me, but it would be cool if they only send me a copy of their MSX Magazine 3, for example Big smile)

5.- The entries must be "pure" basic or could I include some asm routines in the codes (data+poke?)

Just wondering...

What's does the author of the reaction on the Slashdot site mean to say by mentioning the Mary Poppins word 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' ?
