Topic: Emulation

Following up on the release of openMSX 0.7.2, Necocan@mac has put out NekoLauncher 0.9, a graphical launcher for OS X 10.4 and up. NekoLauncher is similar to openMSX's own Catapult, but comes as a native Mac OS X application in Universal Binary format. No large changes were made in this new version, so apparently it's just a maintenance release.

Some new stuff he was working on according to his blog:
- support for 2nd extension
- confirmed support for MacOS X 10.5
- support for IPS patches
- support for horizontal stretch
- extended system info (?)
- PCM input plug

In many respects it is more advanced than the official (old, abandoned) Catapult. It's using the same mechanism for control as the new (upcoming) Catapult. Too bad it doesn't support dynamic media slots and an arbitrary list of extensions. But then again, it's more that what the old Catapult supports Smile

It's really a very good job! And it has many nice details, like the icons for each MSX machine...

If you have a Mac, use this with openMSX and you have the best possible MSX emulation available on Mac, I'm pretty convinced about that.
