Aleste 2 - Flying High by Jorito

MRC admin Jorito is on a roll this year, creating MSX remix after MSX remix. After 3 entries in the Game Music Cover Challenge and an orchestral/rock mix of Contra's Waterfall theme, this time it's Compile's shooter Aleste 2 to receive a remix.

The song started out as an experiment with Realivox Blue, the instrument that does the vocals. Jorito was playing around with it, things sounded quite nice and the rest of the song more or less took off all by itself. After the main part of the song was done, he added the intro and the break that gives the song a bit of an ethereal, otherworldly touch. Combined with the main part that has a bit of an Italo vibe with a solid dance beat going on, he likes to dub this "Ethereal Italo".

The song has been added to the MRC downloads database and to the music player. But considering Jorito announced more music coming later this year, following his Soundcloud page or Youtube channel is a good way to stay up-to-date.
