Akop Karapetyan, aka uberjack has released a new version of CocoaMSX, the MSX emulator for Mac OS X Snow Leopard and higher. Apart from the sync with the latest BlueMSX core and support for LEDs in the GUI it contains quite a few bug fixes. Here's what's new:

New and improved features:

  • Recent Disks and Recent Cassettes options no longer available for systems without disk and cassette support
  • Emulator window now displays name of running machine in the title bar
  • QuickSave/QuickLoad last saved state - Press Option+Command+S and Option+Command+L to re-save and re-load last loaded state
  • Added LED's to the status bar for the following: Power, Pause, Ren-Sha Turbo (Joystick auto-fire), Caps Lock, Code (International char mode), Cassette I/O, FDD0 and FDD1 I/O
  • Added Ren-Sha slider to the status bar
  • Improved machine selector, with filtering by Install status, Family and Search
  • Updated to latest version of blueMSX emulation core
  • Frames-per-second counter is now optional, can be enabled in the View menu

Bug fixes:

  • International and older versions of OSX should use the same location for App Data as all others
  • Preferences don't open when machine is shut down
  • Caps Lock implementation, Insert key is now usable
  • Fixed crash when launched with file
  • Window title doesn't properly update when launched from command line
  • Preferences crash when new machines are available

Thanks!

Some feedback: if I select a ROM from the “insert recent” list, it does not seem to remember the ROM type that was selected.

Also, it would be nice if there was a way to run CocoaMSX from the command line with options for rom, rom type, machine, extensions, etc.

Latest BlueMSX core? I thoight development on BlueMSX has been dead for about 2 years now? The bluemsx website also doesn't really show any recent activity, so what am I missing?

There are still commits to blueMSX SVN. I guess that's what is meant.

I don't have these problems with osx 10.9.4, did you create a ticket for it on github with the crashlog? same for the feature requests, because I don't know if the author is reading this site Smile

I tried, but it's needed a registration as pointed out by gdx, so the only chance is that the bug got corrected in the next version.

What is the problem of simply registering and creating a ticket? Or are you not interested enough to get a fix?

The problem almost the same as the version 1.4.0. CocoaMSX crash when I try to open the preferences panel of Bios for Machines except when I remove all Bios. In this cas CocoaMSX crash when I scroll the Bios list.

Therefore CocoaMSX only works with cbios. I can not select another.

v1.4.2 feedback:

- The Turbo R mode LED is missing.
- CocoaMSX can't run the ColecoVision games neither SG-1000 however it considers .col and .sg file extensions. A double-click on a rom coleco or sg1000 launches CocoaMSX. Sad
- I can't reset MSX turbo R from setting panel but not from menu bar.

When the preferences panel is opened CocoaMSX crashes if we click on red x of MSX screen window.
