I propose to name the next version DSK-PRO 10.3 ATOMIC ANNIHILATION EDITION.
Also, needs a picture with even more explosions.

Basically it is a hunt for free protected disks, which is kinda lame.
Is there seriously now gonna be for every *.1 'update' a newspost?

Everyone complains this program ain't working properly.
Confirm at least which "protected" disks allready can be properly copied.
So far, it resulted in nothing.

The attitude of this person is just insanity.

My personal point of view is:
imho every program/game worth having (from commercial software houses from the olden days that is) is already hacked and packed in every ZIP you find on the net. No winning in that camp.
Copying "commercial" modern/scene stuff is a moral no go. You just don't do that. No winning in that camp either.

And if you really can't keep yourself from copying protected disks, try (I have to say the dirty word) Amiga Hannibal

No, there is a difference between hacked/cracked versions and copies of original untouched unmodified protected disks. For preservation purposes the latter is important.

And what is wrong with putting updates of software? A newspost of updated releases is inline with what MRC has been posting for years now for any software... and many non-msx sites do it as well. So I dont think it is wrong per se. Although I do usually feel small updates or fast follow-up ones could be added as an "update" or edit on the last big post.

First point is where you and I differ of opinion. Preservation is imho done if the software can be run. If it's not on the original disk, I don't mind it's altered.

As for the second point, MRC decides if something becomes a newspost, so this newspost is well decided. I would have done an update of the earlier post, like you mentioned. Though, imho, not every minor update should need a newspost. If that were the case, openMSX would hit the news very frequently.
As openMSX has its own forum I can't really compare it in this next situation, but take SymbOS and MegaFlashROMSCC+SD. Two major releases. And Synthesix and VGMPlay as well, to name a few. They can do with one forum thread. And they do well. This is wise as well as the info and discussions don't get scattered about. The treads evolve together with the software/hardware. I don't see a reason for DSK-PRO to do it differently.

meits I think you misunderstand me. I do think 1 forumtopic for a game/software is enough, no need for seperate forum topics per new release version.

But I was talking about actual newsposts. Didn't mrc report on the last vgmplay/gunzip/sofarun/symbos releases (with a newspost)? I feel there is room for newsposts regarding new updated versions of software, but maybe with a cooldown-period for small minor fixes (eg a week or 2 if its only 1 or 2 things changed/added), but if its a major release/update with tons of changes/fixes I think its okay.

Anyway that remark was not aimed towards you but the ppl who posted before you.

AUGH!

Crazy

anyway, fmsx (android, but other versions too) gets new releases all the time and I don't see news posts about all of them on MRC.

There are times that MRC admins do some active searching for news. In times that doesn't happen MRC relies on submitted news. That's when stuff that's not submitted is not going to make it. We're not professionals Wink

One can't possibly catch each and every release; I'm not complaining. Wink
Besides, fmsx has its own thread. I think it's fine the way it is.

I mean the opposite; perhaps DSK-PRO is a bit over-covered.
(although they should definitely stick with the ridiculous release naming and logos with things blowing up Wink ).

FWIW: I agree an *update* of the 10.1 news would probably have been more appropriate in this case, as that one was still recent/active + this seems to mostly be a *bugfixed* release.

Now when another guy goes kicking up the 10.0 thread (just after the 10.1 thread had been created) for the sake of trolling, we suddenly have a shitload of (active) news & topics.

Regarding the forums I believe there's a consensus already that cbsfox will stick to a single forum thread from now on forward. Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

Total Annihilation: https://youtu.be/vSIYtApMwhQ?t=5s (that's a pretty bad/lousy run though... ;))

I have that in The Pinball Arcade (pinball sim).

I'd like to have a real pinball machine, although they do take up a lot of room.

Yeah, I like pinball(s) as well.. Smile
Played this one a lot in Visual Pinball. Have you become Ruler of the Universe already? :) Did you know about Unit3D Pinball yet? Still in beta, but there is a (WIP) AFM table (Attaque from Mars in this case ;))
Looks great, but needs a beefy PC/GPU.

Pablibiris: if you also explain why you think it sucks, you allow the author to improve the tool so that it does not suck anymore for you... Now you didn't and that way it will probably remain sucking for you.

In other words: this comment doesn't help anyone.

I don't want to help this person, because he uses this tool and others to dump games CURRENTLY being sold. And not only that ... he has been dedicated to publishing those links in all MSX groups on Facebook, saying that he is the God of hacking. He was banned in all MSX groups. The authors have been asked to remove those downloads, and instead of doing this, he is dedicated to make it harder and with more arrogance.
This person has a screw loose in his head. He needs to be the center of attention, and thought to be someone on the MSX scene ... And all he has achieved is that some developers lose the illusion and stop distributing its games in ROM format.
Many Brazilian users are ashamed of this person.

DSK Pro sucks.
Cbsfox sucks.
Marcos Daniel Blanco sucks.

That's all.

Very well said, Pablibiris.
Marcos Daniel Blanco (AKA Cbsfox) is the cause of all this piracy mess, he was the one who published msx software packages and spammed them all over the internet.
Also, his friends threatened to do the same with new commercial msx releases, so this person and some of the members of his facebook group dedicated to piracy, are the cause that most (if not all) future commercial msx releases will never see the light in digital format or SD installable format, and not only that, but the price of the cartridges will go up due to extra hardware protections in them, so every real msx supporter will suffer for his actions. Some for having to pay more, others for not being able to afford the cartridge version, as well as the developers, who will sell less.
This group has stated their active and deliberated purpose of destroying the msx commercial future, so please do not support them. They have done enough damage already and they will probably do a lot more before they are put down for good. How many exelent developers have we lost already due to piracy?

I have taken legal action but I fear it will not go anywhere.
I suggest we involve Konami, xseed (owner of some falcom franchises) and any other active company who owns the rights of many of the games being distributed in his page, and hope those big companies lawyers do have the power to put an end to them, so I request anyone who reads this to report this person's actions to all the companies involved in it.

The future of the msx is at stake. The only thing evil needs to succeed is for good people to do nothing.
