This year, there's another musical compo contest for the AY-3-8910 (better known as PSG) chip. Just as the previous contest (more info and downloads here), this is organized in collaboration with CulturaChip, who will provide the platform for contest management.
After the contest, AAMSX will release an MSX music disk, so you can listen to all the songs presented using MSX compatible formats such as Vortex Tracker (PT3), Arkos Tracker, WYZTracker and others using a dedicated replayer for MSX.
For more information, you can use the CulturaChip forums (the info is available in Spanish and English).

You know, I've always wondered what Wolf could do with just 3 channels of bleepmagic.

I just listened to the first few tracks from the 1st edition.
Incredible that that stuff comes out of a PSG, and on 8bit systems!

I've been working on some PSG music myself but just on a PC using emulation, so I can't enter unfortunately. But I probably wouldn't stand a chance of winning anyway Shocked!

It's an art. Though incredibly well done, not my taste of art. Not to fond of the distortions and arpeggios.
I wouldn't be able to drag it out of a tracker either. I'm more of an MSX-Music/MSX-Audio type of person Wink

Some great tracks there! Big smile

Distortion and arpeggios are very nice if used correctly. Usually i think this means using them subtle/sparsely instead of an entire song of prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Smile

Also Meits: you can have arpegios and distortion-like effects in those soundchips too Wink Or compose a PSG song without them Wink

"prrrrrr" hehe, that's the perfect description of what it sounds like Big smile
Ever since Commando on the C64 I'm kind of fascinated with the effect though; I really like how they make those little chips punch above their weights Smile
