In the excitement of #msxdev 2012 closing with 7 entries we completely overlooked that the second edition of this competition started simultaneously. The rules of #msxdev 2013 are exactly the same as last year, meaning that once again: anything goes. Games, demos, utilities, MSX1 to turboR, support for common music chips and even GFX9000 are allowed, so there is plenty of freedom to let all creativity flow.

Contestants can register for the competition until November 30th, 2013 - the entries themselves must be finished and submitted before December 31st, 23:59 CET.

Well, any hardware may be used, but "Uncommon hardware may not be required and will not be considered for judging."

Not sure how commonly owned they are. Also, afaik there aren't emulators that emulate them yet. So it probably is hard to judge games that require those extensions. My guess is that they would be considered too uncommon. Perhaps ask directly in the #msxdev channel on Rizon or find the email address on the compo website.
