Retro-MSX the continuation of the Argentinan MSX group MSX Error 51 have released a utility called MSXloader.

This MSX-BASIC program is a configurable software loader for MSX-BASIC, capable of running .ROM, .BIN and .BAS files. It can handle up two 200 different menu entries and each menu entry can be accompanied with a short description. To make things extra old-school, naturally you have to edit the MSX-BASIC listing yourself to generate all the menu entries you need.

Judging by the screenshot there's very little text. And translating it would be as simple as changing the BASIC print statements Smile

Is this news worthy? I mean, I wrote such BASIC menus 20 years ago. Me and many others.

maybe you could also put those online...
They maybe usefull for many other msx users, and we may learn some more tricks from the various loaders...
I also made/modified some (also loadin some .com files), but cannot find them anymore, so I like this post/download...

My loader called LOADER written 24 years ago also could show addresses of bin file and send/receive files over classroom network. I was very proud because I had VDP doc and I could color chars in width80 mode then.
It was used in tens of schools, but I dropped it in favor of ND System which was a superior tool.

id like to have a system in which you can set how you want to load your rom and with what variables (if any)
the system would have to save those variables and use those next time you want to run that rom.
Like , i have my roms standing in subdirs 0 to 9 and a to Z witch the first letter of the name of the game in that subdir.
so when i start up the loaderprogam in a subdir it would have to read the variables list and run the game as soon as the cursor is on it and i press SPACE of RETURN of whatever.
if there is no enty for that game it should ask how i needs to be started and add that to the list

Does a program like that already exsist maybe?
