NX Labs, a homebrew hardware builder in Japan, released NandemoESECC. The name comes from a pun using homonyms. Nandemo means "anything", ESE means "pseudo", and ESECC is pronounced just like SCC.

On first glance, it looks a standard ROM cartridge. However, it has a few dial switches and a sound output jack. Each of those switches corresponds to a respective PSG channel. While inserted in your MSX, the output from the PSG is modified to SCC-like sounds by the NandemoESECC. You can adjust the tone color of each channel to your taste by turning these dials. On top of that, you can choose between just the modified sound, or to mix it with the original PSG output.

The developer, Norix, says that NandemoESECC is inspired from NandemoSCC by Tiny Yarou. NandemoSCC (of which the name's connotation should be clear by now) is a software solution to transfer any PSG output to SCC. You can watch several demonstrations of on Tiny Yarou's YouTube channel.

The NandemoESECC cartridge can be yours for ¥12,800 (which is roughly around €100 or $115 at the time of this newspost) and is sold via mail order by kadenken.

Giant VGMs Big smile.

PlaySoniq also has 16 MB RAM. It’s a bit of a curiosity, overkill when I use it, but hey! That massive amount of RAM on the boot-up screen of my turboR does give me a satisfied feeling Smile.

A bit like driving a 4x4 car only in city? (well, here that's a 4x4MB cart Smile).

Interesting idea of improving the standard PSG. But the price looks quite high for such a device IMO. Unless they bought the genuine FPGA of course.
