Over the course of a year, French MSX user MetalGear2 created his own MSX2+ prototype, the NC8+. Based on the NMS8020 - chosen because it doesn't have an MSX engine but standard TTL circuits of the 7400 series.
Implemented in a Altera Cyclone II FPGA chip are the Z80, the 8255 PPI, slot expander, 512K RAM, PSG, SCC, SD interface, RTC and PS port. Other components like the VDP, 512K SRAM and BIOS are not implemented in FPGA, but soldered to the PCB.
