Over the course of a year, French MSX user MetalGear2 created his own MSX2+ prototype, the NC8+. Based on the NMS8020 - chosen because it doesn't have an MSX engine but standard TTL circuits of the 7400 series.

Implemented in a Altera Cyclone II FPGA chip are the Z80, the 8255 PPI, slot expander, 512K RAM, PSG, SCC, SD interface, RTC and PS port. Other components like the VDP, 512K SRAM and BIOS are not implemented in FPGA, but soldered to the PCB.

You can find detailed information about the creation of this prototype and its progress over here. Video footage of the final product is available as well, with an operational demo and a specific 12V test with FMPAC over here

Congrats @MetalGear22!
Now if it had HDMI out, that would make it a cool device for in my living room. Smile

Re-do the board as mini-ITX (looks about that size!), and you've got countless ready-made, cheapo, good looking boxes to choose from. Maybe an idea for current version +1? Wink

awesome Smile the board looks really well made too!

I am really curious to see this thing work in a real setting. Will there be a demo in Nijmegen? Smile
