On January 19th the annual MSX fair in Nijmegen will be held. 15 stand holders have registered and announced their activities. An overview:

  • Bas Kornalijnslijper - Repairs, expansions, cables, parts, buy and sale of second hand MSX hardware
  • Bitwise - Distribution and demonstration of MSX games
  • Eric Boon - Sale of an MSX collection
  • MSX Club West-Friesland - Promotion and sale of MSX equipment, including books, magazines, software and hardware
  • MSX Resource Center - Sale of MSX T-Shirts & girlies, promotion of www.msx.org activities.
  • MSX Vriendenclub Mariënberg - Promotion of MSX Vriendenclub Mariënberg
  • openMSX Team - Demonstration of the current development version of openMSX, all Laserdisc games, the latest developments, the new Catapult and the debugger GUI. Furthermore, demonstrations of openMSX running on Android, GCW Zero and the Dingoo A320. Last but not least, a live analysis of the VDP command engine with a logic analyzer, to get to more accurate VDP emulation
  • Prodatron - Reactivating SymbOS on the MSX2/TurboR and OCM, already initiated in this massive forumtopic
  • Raymond's MSX Pagina - Promotion of Raymond's MSX Page
  • Revival Studios - This classic game developer/publisher will release a new MSX/MSX2 game on cartridge and will show trailers for various games on a number of retro consoles
  • Stichting Sunrise - Sale of hardware
  • The New Image - Sale of MSX merchandise and promotion of TNI software. Presentation of #msxdev Compo 2012 entries, demonstration of pseudoMSX which, judging from this YouTube video appears to be a brand new MSX emulator
  • Totally Chaos - Sale of MSX magazines and hardware: cables, computers and printers
  • Trilobyte-MSX - Demonstration of Trilobyte projects
  • WORP3 - Demonstration and sale of the MIDI-PAC plus a demonstration of the new Orbit project
  • Deltasoft - Selling their MSX software, and probably displaying lots of Duracell bunnies.

From the looks of it, it is going to be an exciting day with lots of new developments to see and acquire whilst hanging out with a large group of MSX fans.

I'm guessing at the MSX Resource Center booth. AFAIK he's coming, and MRC booked more tables than needed.

If there's something to show, mayhaps Sama will abuse the MRC booth for that.. ^^

Mmmmh, as it looks now, Sama won't even be present at the Nijmegen fair this year. Apart from that, I share the desire to release the patch, but the finishing touch is not in my hands, but in the hands of Max, someone whose priorities (understandably) have been elsewhere the last few months. That's probably the downside of doing something for fun: if life intervenes, it stalls...

Anyway, just want to let you know that even though Melancholia won't be there at Nijmegen and even though we announced a release in early 2012 but haven't released anything new so far, the project is far from abandoned. It's just the final finishing touch that still needs to be done...

I'm all for receiving an unfinished project that might need some later patching. Tongue
It's not that uncommon in the current professional games world either. ;-)

Hello, Everybody!

Unfortunately because of my personal issues I was unable to put too much time into Project Melancholia or some other projects in recent months... But as Sama said, the project is not abandoned, it's 90% finished. All texts and 90% of gfx is translated, 99% of code is done. The game is fully playable. Only final polishing is left.

In 2011 we had a blast and was working at amazing speed. Unfortunately 2012 was different... And I am sure that 2013 will be a blast year again!

That's great news! This is one project that I'm anticipating big time (on of my favourite games). Is there still plans for Fray and Randar 3 projects? Smile

I have never been to a nijmegen fair before, but is it just me or are there more standholders than ever? Compared to the other "reminder" newsposts on mrc.

Yes. We still plan to finish other projects after SD-snatcher is finished. So you can expect another release this year.
