Of course, nothing beats creating a game for MSX, but remaking a classic retro game on a modern platform comes pretty close. And what about developing an original game on a contemporary platform, but with that great retro look and feel? Just recently we reported about La-Mulana being released on WiiWare. That game is such a great hommage to our golden era of gaming.
We have found another gem, Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death! This game, developed by Studio Piña, is, according to their own website, "a retro-styled platformer that does its best to emulate the look and feel of a classic MSX1 game. Armed only with his trusty boomerang, Sydney must navigate dark caverns while avoiding bats, ghosts, hot lava and other obstacles. If you can survive all 10 caverns, you will be able to win your freedom." The fun part is, you can play the game online now, for free!
Interestingly, we got pointed towards Sydney Hunter through our own website. The game is currently being discussed in a newspost on Project Moon Over Arba Minch, a true MSX2 game which release is still being awaited for with great anticipation.
