Feel like retro gaming your way through a dark castle filled with monsters, items and evil bosses? Enter Unepic.

Unepic is a platform game that throws the player in a castle that's very reminiscent of Konami's classic MSX game Maze of Galious. Not surprising, as the original idea was to create a sequel to the Maze of Galious. But things got out of hand and the story and game moved into a new, less standard, direction and ultimately Unepic became a fresh new game. It also draws inspiration from the Castlevania and Diablo series.

Most of the game was made by a single person, who spent two years of his free time on coding, map editing, composing, screen writing and creating graphics. Unepic has a nice retro look and feel, but runs on modern PC's and takes advantage of the updated hardware. You can check out some gameplay footage on Youtube.

Of course if you'd rather play the original game on modern hardware, you can also download Brain Games' Maze of Galious remake for Windows, Mac or Linux.

Unepic is available for Windows computers and has different prices depending on what you want. Prices range from € 6,50 to € 19,95, the difference mostly being the number of in-game credits you receive to buy special items with.
You can also donate money for work on the Linux port of the game.
