In 2013 a group of South Korean MSX users celebrated the 30th anniversary of MSX by releasing the Zemmix Neo. Based on the One Chip MSX, but arguably much better looking. It was no surprise this futuristic looking console, inspired by the Daewoo Zemmix CPC-51 sold out very quickly. Sadly, there were no plans for a second batch...

...until MSX users in Brazil teamed up, that is, and decided to produce a slightly modified version of the console, the Zemmix Neo BR - wich also sold out completely. In August 2015, this forum topic requested people interested in a third batch to sign up. This week the good news arrived that a third batch is going to be produced soon. This will also be the last batch of Zemmix Neo BR consoles to go into production.

It is still possible to register for a Zemmix Neo BR by filling in this form on Google Docs. Sales price has been set at US$ 220,- ex shipping which, given the prices of the original One Chip MSX is quite a good deal.

Just in case, the specifications of the Zemmix Neo:

  • MSX2+ compatible
  • 8Mhz turbo mode
  • 4 Megabyte memory mapper
  • 1 Megabyte MegaRAM
  • MSX-MUSIC
  • ESE-Ram SCC+
  • SD card reader
  • 2 cartridge slots
  • 2 joystick ports
  • Support for PS/2 and USB keyboards
  • 15khz and 31khz video out over VGA, composite or S-VHS
