A month ago, Manuel Bilderbeek announced the annual MSX fair in Nijmegen is to be held on the 22nd of January, 2011. Will it be as well-visited as 2010? Will there once again be foreign visitors? Well, one thing is for sure: as of today, the registration form is online! Tables can be reserved for € 7,- each. At the end of fair, the day isn't over yet, because traditionally the day will end at a nearby Chinese Restaurant. If you feel like joining this feast, feel free to reserve your seat, as there is a limitation of 35 persons. To get an impression of what Nijmegen 2011 might bring us, you can check out the photoshoot of 2010.

Entrance for visitors is free, only tables require payment. You'd have to pay your own plane ticket though.

Oh to be able to afford the plane fare! Maybe I can wrangle a trip to the Uk out of work in the future (and connect via various trains, planes and/or automobiles). Can always hope I guess Sad

edoz: If you reserve a table, you can bring your own MSX and monitor and use it all day long. It's called a fair mostly for historic reasons: I estimate about 25% of the stands sell something and the rest is people showing what they have been working on in the last year.

I was thinking of opening a donations 'jar'. This will be solely used to pay for the venue, so that the price for tables becomes lower. This might invite more people to come and just get one table to put his/her MSX on and have fun.

Donations would be completely voluntary, entry is still free, but if you like you can pay a contribution for the renting costs.

What do you think?

Bad idea? Good idea? Doesn't matter, because people will get or not get a table anyway, without money playing a role?

I doubt it's important. How many tables are up for hire usually? 20? If 20, then 20 euro worth o'donations would mean that each table is 1 euro cheaper. I say: 'swell'.. Tongue

And: usually The people attending the restaurant ceil(food costs) to the nearest nice integer.. I think you get plenty o' tips! ^^

@manuel: MSX Resource Center, Playsoniq and Worp3 were registered at the same time, but they are 3 separate participants. Could you list them as such?

I was thinking to take my double MSX magazines (MCM, MCCM ,Moziak, MSX-gids, Software gids etc) to the fair. Is anyone else interested in trading issues?

snout: the idea is to have one registration per booth/participant. I can't keep track of multiple booths/participants per registration... Who has what amount of tables? SvN pays for all and is contact person? Messy...

Bottom line: if you are multiple participants, do multiple registration, please.

<annoyed>
There is a simple form to register a booth. People fill in the form to register a booth. It's simple. One form per booth. One title per booth. One amount of tables per booth. One description per booth. One URL per booth. Easy peasy. A form, not a free e-mail. A form so I have all the details for a booth in one place. A form so that the administration is easy and the chance of mistakes is minimal. A form so that I don't have to send mails back with questions for details or other things. A simple form to provide clarity.

The registration I received did not have any hint that it was meant to register 3 booths, except that the name is a bit long.

How hard can it be?

For 6 years people succeeded to use the form to register a booth...

Oh, and that's the last thing I'm going to say about this on a public forum.

<annoyed>In his enthousiasm, Sander has registered 6 tables for 3 stand holders in one go. It was perhaps not the smartest thing to do, but is it so impossible to change this to 3 separate registrations of 2 tables each? Does he need to fill in a separate form for that and file it at a special department of the organization of the meeting? Come on man, please update the site and I promise next time he/we will register the stands separately. Muchos gracias.

All that stuff sounded complicated as f***, but good that it's solved. Wink
Though an upcoming MSX fair is to be considered fairly important IMHO, the <annoyance> code is a function which should return no value. Smile

Just look at Bert's stern glare and remember: everyone counts, everyone berts!

Get cool shirts for your kids as well so they learn early that everyone berts;

And with that philosophy, I say: let's not kill each other - let's all be friends! :)
