Daniel Berdugo, one of the creators of ObsoNET, the first Ethernet interface for MSX, has released the schematics of this cartidged, licensed under CERN Open Hardware License v1.1.
This means that anybody can now make their own ObsoNET cartridge or organize a team to manufacture a batch of them , in order to reduce costs. A complete package has been made available, containing:
- Project made with Catsoft Eagle
- Basic documentation for assembly ((photoliths, schematic and parts list)
- Gerber files for ordering boards at any PCB manufacturer, such as Olimex, 2CI, PCBCart, etc
- VHDL source file for the behavior of programmable logic and JEDEC file ready for programming directly on the GAL16V8D
Earlier this year, an alternative cartridge based on the original ObsoNET, but no longer uses the GAL16V8D PLD, has been released as well. You can find out more information about this alternative project here.
