Guess what?! We're back!

Ofcourse most of you immediately understood the Konami antiques news we posted yesterday was an april fools joke, but much to our enjoyment many of you believed, or at least were unsure of, today's announcement. Ofcourse the entire announcement was an april fools prank also! Konami has never released any antiques joystick whatsoever and wouldn't think of waking up Snout early in the morning for sure!

Many of you sent us lovely fanmail but some of you weren't able to see any humour in the april fools jokes. Maybe it'll please those to learn that we weren't offline just for sake of the april fools joke. We also moved to another server. Yes! Again! We've got a better, bigger and faster server and also got more bandwidth, better service, etc. Besides that, the MRC has changed somewhat too. I could tell you, but you'll see soon enough. Expect more changes in the near future too.

1) you would have removed the post and not the complete site.
2) You would have told Konami that you got wrong information (if they would contact you)
3) It's april 1st... so it's obvious

Why are Konami so concerned about at April fools joke for a system they are no longer producing software for? indeed they havent for 15 years? maybe they are going to make one?

I wonder Sony would do the same if someone announced a joke about Betamax? or Philips the same about V2000? (for people who dont know they are obselete video systems)

The response by Konami could be a positive thing!

Ehmm .. there's at least 2 differences with betamax or video2000 :

- do you know people that are still using betamax or video2000 ? No !!! But we know people that are still using a real MSX !

- there's no (official or amateur) revival for betamax or video2000 !!! But there's a MSX Revival !

It is obvious that MRC needs every way to get attention. I was yesterday at Bifi's place to test some combinations of Konami with the GAmereader. Except for one combination iirc the yr-kungfu everything went fine, and that's no joke and as bonus
after a few months the orderform is settled finally by our websmaster. So that you can order the gamreader as well the arranger(set)
I said immediately that the second joke was intended to make free time to maintain the site. I was thus quite right ...

@vamp: not every country has either a fool's day or on April 1st.

@sunrise: I did some more testing on the real thing and openMSX after you left and it seems the effect of the combination will become available from stage 3 and IIRC we didn't get further than stage 2 while testing it.

In fact I know people who use Betamax, and I even know someone who still use a Philips N1500 VCR, the machines before V2000! The picture quality is far superior to standard VHS. We cant start talking about VCR formats on a MSX forum though.

Amazing ! My first VCR was a Sony .... Betamax ... and I remember that colors were better (and more brilliant) than on the first VHS generation.

I love my Betamax, but it does not record anymore.

The best video, I've used was a V2000 that my father bough back in 1986. Price was quite a close to 100€

I really liked this system! It was possible for example ask video to wind the tape to 37 minutes from the end of the tape eject it. This was possible, because video was aware of how long the tape was and what position it currently was. This is not possible with VHS! One nice feature was, that you could also get cassette in after eject by using remote controller.

for the "failure" of betamax, blame the evil of sony, EVIL!!!!! though the pro versions and derivations were quite big (as in gigantic) in broadcasting and all that, and as for v2000 it just got lost in the melee as it were, quality of any sort is never an issue, marketing skillz seem to matter more.

in the end either betamax or video 2000 lost it because they refused to release porn on their format,
vhs didn't have those morals. Sad realy,since both betamax and video 2000 has far better quality,
perfect still frames,and way better luminance.

Before you guys start: WorldNic was down temporarily (ddos?), NetworkSolutions uses their DNS infrastructure. As a result MRC could not be resolved by some of you. It seems the problems have been resolved.
