Finally, finally, finally! After a very long wait we can bring you the results of the MRC MEGA Challenge. More than 2 years since we started the challenge, and almost 6 months since it closed. Surely, we were hoping for (even) more than the 10 entries we received in the end, but considering the high quality of several entries one can only conclude that it was all well worth it.

And now, the time has come to the winners of the three One Chip MSX computers that were to be won in this challenge. During an MRC crew meeting that was held last saturday, 4 judges gave their ratings to each entry, resulting in this jury report and the following top 3:

  1. Montana John and the Templar's Treasure (Infinite)
  2. 3072 (David Heremans)
  3. LEDA (John Hassink and Paco Santos Ramírez)

There were also two random prizes, being a retro-flavored audio CD and a T-Shirt, which were respectively won by the creators of Ball Quest and Blur.

The entire MRC crew would like to thank all contestants and to congratulate the winners with their prizes. If and in which form MRC Challenges will return is a bit unclear at the moment, but we sure had a great time and we hope you all did as well.

We are equally happy that it's finally over, it's not like we enjoy being late. Tongue There are several things we need to attend to (which I couldn't do on my own), we expect things to be somewhat more streamlined again in 2009 with the return of snout to the daily process of MRC.

And as for MJTT: Running Naked in a Field of FlowersFaceHannibalLOL!CoolTongueBig smileSmile

Thank you for this great honor!
Congratulations to the winners!
MRC team, it was great of you to offer this platform!
And special BIG thanks to all other contestants for adding their work to the ever-flowing, immortal stream of MSX software! You keep it alive!

Just one request: Please add Paco's name to our entry.
LEDA would never have looked like it does if it wasn't for his great effort!

Also, thanks to all those people who were a great help during development!
You know who you are!
(And if not, read the .txt file Wink)

Thanks again! Unto the next contest!

Infinite, David Heremans, John Hassink and Paco Santos Ramirez: congratulations with your 1chipMSXes! The rest of the Dutch crew had a blast in reviewing them, and for myself personally it was great to see all these wonderful entries once again.

All people involved in this contest: thanks a lot for your game, demo and effort! Unto the next challenge!

Nice to see this challenge come to a final conclusion now that we have a verdict of the jury. Smile
Congratulations to the winners.
It was indeed nice to see the burst of creativity this challenge caused by all the contestants.

About the jury report itself, I wonder how much beer it takes before somebody blames me of ripping graphics and code. Smile2
Music is indeed someone's else (Eric van Hezik and Remco Weijman to give credit where credit is due) but all the rest is mine, all mine! <insert insane laughter sample here > Cool

It's very, very "cute" to see how certain MSX "dedicated" sites seem to 1:1 copy the newsposts from the MRC frontpage and very synchronically so, but miraculously (whoopsy!) forget about this news.
Well how about that.
Thanks a lot for the support, guys! It's noted.

(either you boycott something or you don't boycott something; don't do it half-assed if you take yourselves that seriously!)

"The moon doesn't exist!"

It's up in the air for everyone to see. Everyone sees it, everyone notices the tides, ..but let's not write about it, perhaps one day people will truly believe the moon doesn't exist.
