Not bad, but I'd rather boot the more colourful, higher-res MSX version in an emulator.

Yup, H.E.R.O. on MSX is still the best! Graphics much better than any other version, and the same great gameplay Smile

H.E.R.O. needs a proper MSX sequel updated with a modern jetpack and more exploration emphasis.

Huey: looks great! Perhaps a proper title for the game would be S.U.P.E.R.H.E.R.O.? Smile

Strange.

Perhaps this link works better. My inspiration could be from the Dimensional Corridor.

I know La-Mulana graphics by pixel from my mind. The similarities are unintentional but as I love those gfx so much i do try to use the same technique. Btw 70% of the gfx you see in the screenshot are gfx 'borrowed' from our other project MOAM (yes, still working on it).

I see! I didn't see it since I didn't really play La-Mulana that much. :)

@Imanok: That's how I understood it. That's why I said not everybody reads all the posts; FiXato overread yours. That's why I said I saw (and watched) yours first; FiXato's one is the same, I know. Wink

Personally I would keep original propeller-backpack, but otherwise jetpac is a good idea. So as backpack technology has gone forward a lot, years have passed since 1984 and so maybe the new hero could be descendant of original hero. Smile Yes, I know, sequels in the 1980s sometimes had different looking and moving player, so that way it is not very strange to think that new hero game has jetpac this time.

I am interested to know, how this new jetpack hero sprite reacts, when it collides with background? Does player bounce off with all remaining inertia still left (minus some, since collision ate some inertia) and does vitality slowly or faster run out depending how hard player hit the background and eventually player gets destroyed?

For ideas for jecpac/rocket vehicle games, you can testplay Dan Dare II on Spectrum, Amstrad and C-64. Smile
