OvineByDesign has released a remake of Konami 's Nemesis for the Retro Remakes competition. Whilst the deadline of the competition passed a few days back the remakes cannot be downloaded from the Retro Remakes website at the moment. Luckily OvineByDesign set up a mirror themselves so that you're able to download and play this fine remake.

OK, where's the source code, so that it can be compiled to non-M$ platforms as well?

I don't really agree this is a "fine remake". It lacks both imagination and playability. The graphics are a slightly smoothened version of the arcade version, the musical arrangements are unimaginative and, worst of all, the way the enemies move is guaranteed to annoy you (and not in the positive "now-here's-a-challenge" way). But maybe it's just me.

Well, the music was given an orchestral touch, not nescesarily bad, and the graphics are nicely updated.... I don't think they're just smoothed arcade gfx.
I understand your gripe about the "magnet-enemies" though, they weren't exactly like that in the original, but it's still a nice remake, IMO.

hm.. in nem1 I used to be able to just fly to the end in one go .. in this remake I only saw the start of the level for a few seconds. Quite hard.. a bit too hard perhaps.

Overall it looks okay, I like the orchestral music. Gives it a nice little extra.
The AI of the enemies is indeed pretty anoying, it's just too much.

looks nice, nice music, but movements of plane is shit, too slow, i like the original msx1 more, plays much better

gotta agree with it not matching the gameplay quality of the original versions (MSX, PCE, Arcade, NES, in order of preference, but I'm a biased MSX fan who likes that particular version the best anyway)....yet, as an unofficial remake, I still think it's a cool achievement.

I love the game.
Are the programmers willing to do some final changes ?
I found quite some bugs which make the game practically unplayable.
