ASCII MSX Festival - first look

We reported to you earlier about the festival held by ASCII to celebrate the succesful start of the MSX Revival. It seems that no one expected the introduction of MSX Magazine and MSXPLAYer would go this well.

On the website of the MSX Association some very nice pictures of this festival can be seen already. There's a picture of a presentation, a large collection of (rare) MSX computers not to be touched, a huge wall of MSX Magazines, a very interesting picture of the current one-chip MSX prototype and a pic of a T-shirt probably all of us want.

Also, a counter was added to the 20th anniversary of MSX. Still 138 days to go. We wonder if ASCII and the MSX Association have something special in mind to celebrate that....

Visit the MSX Association to see it all!

Heh, awesome! I want a one-chip MSX already! It's so small! If I can put it in a decent box and hook it up to an LCD screen... cool...

One other important thing: the one chip prototype is now officially announced to the press as a 1 chip MSX (!!!). Indeed GuyveR800, it is all really happening.

Yeah, but to lower the enthusiasm a bit. Isn't this the MSX1 one-chip MSX that is available for quite some time now? I believe Tsujikawa had something like this to show to us in Tilburg 2001 already.

Mark, this is a PROTOTYPE of the one chip MSX. The final version will most definately look entirely different.

Latok: you're right, there were indeed earlier versions of a one-chipper, even in Tilburg 2001 we could have a look at one. However... is it just me or is this one a LOT smaller?

also, it's the very first time that ASCII/MSX Association/Nishi calls the one chip device a one chip MSX in public. So far they only did that in Tilburg 2001, at Nishi's lecture it was a One Chip Computer again.

IIRC the earlier 'prototype' looked different... I don't remember the earlier one having joystick ports.

Latok is rught. Take a look at the ESE-PLD site (http://www.hat.hi-ho.ne.jp/tujikawa/esepld/index.html) The presentation is quite different though
